BUY and SHORT - one click, no confirmation box
BUY and SHORT are faded until a stock is armed. Then they read BUY and SHORT with its symbol, so you always see what you are trading. They send the size from the order size row, as a limit or market order, as the tick says.

Two big buttons
BUY and SHORT are faded until a stock is armed. Then they read BUY and SHORT with its symbol, so you always see what you are trading. They send the size from the order size row, as a limit or market order, as the tick says.
No confirmation box
BUY and SHORT send straight away. They do not ask. In a fast stock, a confirmation box costs the seconds that matter, so the desk keeps its questions for closing and cancelling instead.
The borrow status
The second line on SHORT shows the borrow status for the armed stock: the locates you hold, easy to borrow, no locates available, not shortable, checking borrow, or in paper, no locates needed. For a hard-to-borrow stock, a locate has to come first.
Still checked
One click still goes through the desk's own checks. They still pass the risk limits when you are live, and the desk refuses a new entry on a halted stock. A halt always refuses a new entry, and the risk limits apply when you are live.
After the click
Once you are in, the ladder shows the trade, and your exits take over: take profit, stop loss and trailing, using the settings in the MANUAL TRADING window. Every order and fill is in the order log, with your broker's exact reply. The exits are software stops, held by the program, not resting orders at your broker. Untick Auto exit for that side, and only you can close those trades.
Practise in paper
Practise BUY and SHORT in paper first. Paper fills come from the prices the desk sees. Real fills are decided by the venue: spread, queue position, partial fills, halts and rejections.
