Scanner alert types - what each Strategy means
The Strategy column tells you which alert put a stock on the board. There are only a handful, and each one means something precise, from a plain scanner hit on your filters to a squeeze, a new high of the day or a jump in relative volume.

Why is it on the board?
The Strategy column tells you which alert put a stock on the board. There are a handful of them, and each one means something precise. Here they are, one by one.
Scanner hit
Scanner hit, desk filters: the stock passed every filter on your filters row. It is announced once per stock, per session, which makes it the alert the scanner-hit entry rules are built on.
Squeeze alerts
Squeeze, up five percent in five minutes: the price rose five percent or more in five minutes, on real volume. Squeeze, up ten percent in ten minutes, is the same idea, over a longer stretch.
Volume and new highs
High Rel Vol, five minutes, five times: volume over the last five minutes is at least five times the normal pace for that time of day. New High of Day: a new high for the day, on a stock that has gapped up. Former Momo Stock: a stock that was a mover on an earlier day is active again.
Halts always show
And HALTED, or RESUMED, when a stock is halted, or trading comes back. Halts are always shown, whatever your filters say.
Read it at a glance
Together with the time, the gap and the relative volume, the Strategy column tells the story of each row in one look: what happened, how strong it was, and how long ago.
Read the Strategy first
Read the Strategy column before you click a row: it tells you why the stock is on the board, and that is the first thing to check before you trade it.
Filters still rule
Every alert except a halt still needs the stock to pass your filters first, so the board only ever shows the alerts you asked to see.
